Comic book publishing is an art in itself. And talk about amazingly intricate sketch artwork! Artist and storyteller Jim Byrkit truly showcased his talents with this comic book publishing project, so we had to give it our spotlight this week. J
Jim Byrkit has done some cool projects in his time, but OXYGEN he says is by far his favorite. OXYGEN is a classic science fiction concept in a comic book publishing format, modernized. It’s about a robot and a girl, and a very Hitchcockian power struggle that ensues when their agendas cross. The story is everything Jim loves in movies, operating on multiple levels at once.
Science Fiction Comic Book Publishing for the OXYGEN by Jim Byrkit
This comic book publishing project is another special print added to Publishing Xpress’s hall of fame.
It’s always blissful for us here at Publishing Xpress when clients make our job so very easy. Jim provided crisp, high-resolution files for us that also had 1/8 of an inch bleed. This is exactly what we request so we can give our clients the most flawless product.
The covers were full color and the insides were in black and white. This helped save money on printing, yet still kept a very appealing effect. Another unique thing about this comic book was that it was our largest size at 8.5×11. Many comic books we print tend to be smaller in size. But we quite liked this larger size, which definitely made this comic book publishing project stand out a bit more in the crowded comic book land.
After recent changes to our calculator on our website, we have been getting the question, “If my cover is color and I want it to print in color, but the insides are black and white, which calculator do I quote my order on?” The answer to this question is — the black and white calculator. We’ve tried to simplify our calculator as well as compress pricing so our clients get the best value we’ve offered to date. J

I selected Publishing Xpress after comparing features of several online publishers.
My experience was first rate. Great customer service, and higher quality printing than other services I’ve tried. And better prices. Very easy to upload. I really appreciated being sent samples of paper and binding.
The project was completed quickly and right on time.
I would definitely use Publishing Xpress again.
