At Publishing Xpress, we are committed to reducing environmental impacts from our printing operations by following green printing practices. Here is a brief summary of some of our green printing practices:
Our paper stocks have a 10% to 30% post consumer waste content. All paper stocks are certified by either the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) or the SFI (Sustainable Forestry Initiative), which indicates that the paper has been responsibly forested. This means that the paper stocks have come from well-managed forests that follow strict environmental standards. Both organizations follow the trees, pulp, and paper through the entire chain of custody to ensure responsible foresting.
Our facility uses only digital presses that utilize toner-based cartridges that are nontoxic and manufactured in zero waste facilities.
Recycling of waste
All paper trimmings, waste, and office paper are recycled. By using only digital presses, we are able to keep paper waste to a minimum.
While we strictly follow our green printing practices, it is important to realize that in general, the paper and printing industries have made great strides reducing its impact on the environment. Paper companies utilizing responsibly forested practices typically plan four trees for every tree that is harvested. That helps make printing a renewable resource. Many paper companies have invested heavily in alternative energy sources. In contrast, computers, mobile phones, and telecommunications are among the largest emitters of greenhouse gases.
